Introducing students to the science behind our biorefinery

We recently welcomed 4 S5/6 pupils from Viewforth High School in Kirkaldy to our biorefinery. The students are currently sitting National 5 Laboratory Science and were eager to get an insight into what life working in the science industry is like.

Our Technical Improvement Specialist, Finn Slattery and Head of Technical, Research and Innovation, Lorna Woodcock gave the students a guided tour. From exploring the work we do at the lab, to our biorefinery, taking the students along the process of how we produce green chemicals.

Finn, said “It was great to engage with pupils hoping for a career in science. We are passionate about our process at Celtic Renewables and it was rewarding to share our story with the students, answering any questions they had about future jobs in industrial biotechnology.”

We committed to providing students in STEM with opportunities to explore the exciting work we do in biotechnology. Being at the forefront of green chemistry, it allows us to give an insight to students in STEM who are interested in future job roles within the industry.
